The UNCG x Oak View Elementary collaboration was a semester-long senior collection project. This project prioritized not only the culmination of design skills culminated throughout their previous studies, but the implementation of sustainable practices that will drive the future of innovative fashion.
From Sketch to Finish
Rachel Estrera (me), Douglas Jones, and Brianna Goode were assigned to two Oak View Weather Forecasters- Thomas & Aryan. The assignment was to design two looks that reflect their role as well as their personal style, all while implementing innovative sustainable practices. Our approach to sustainability was using deadstock fabric, especially scrap fabric. By quilting hexagon shaped scraps together, we eliminate waste and generate unique, handcrafted yardage that is then cut and assembled into finished garments like the vest worn by Aryan.
